Programme Overview

The Level 3 Diploma in Business Management is a 120-credit qualification (TQT 1200 hours, GLH 600 hours) designed to give learners an in-depth understanding of how businesses operate and are structured. It builds essential knowledge and practical skills across key business areas including Business Communication, Business Environment, People Management, Customer Service, Finance, and Marketing, and supports progression to higher study or employment.

Correspondence

Equivalent to a high school diploma or college entry qualification internationally. Comparable to UK Level 3 and foundational college courses in the US, Canada, Asia, and Europe.

Aims of the Diploma

The diploma aims to:

  • Gain an in-depth understanding of business operations, structures, and functions.
  • Develop underpinning knowledge, understanding, and skills related to core business activities.
  • Build the ability to research, investigate, review, and apply business concepts to real situations.
  • Strengthen practical competence for addressing routine business problems and workplace scenarios.

Admission Requirements

  • Typical Age: 16+
  • Entry Qualifications: Applicants are typically required to have completed Level 2 qualifications or equivalent(GCSEs or equivalent). Relevant work experience may also be considered.
  • International QualificationsFor international applicants, equivalent qualifications include:
    • High school diploma or equivalent recognised in the applicant's home country (e.g., Grade 12 in Asia, Senior Certificate in Africa, EQF Level 4 in Europe, or a high school diploma in the US/Canada).
  • English Proficiency (for non-native speakers)IELTS score of 5.5, CEFR level B2, or equivalent.

Structure of the Qualification

  • Total Credits: 120 ECTS
  • Modules: 12 mandatory modules, each worth 10 credits. The programme covers essential business functions, equipping students with foundational knowledge across multiple disciplines.

  1. Communication for Business (20 Credits): Develops effective verbal, non-verbal, written, and IT-based communication skills for professional business contexts.
  2. The Business Environment (20 Credits): Explores different types of businesses, sectors, and the internal and external factors that influence business operations.
  3. People Management (20 Credits): Focuses on motivating, leading, and managing employees, including performance management and employee relations.
  4. Customer Service (20 Credits): Examines customer service principles, customer behaviour, and techniques for delivering high-quality customer experiences.
  5. Finance in Business (20 Credits): Introduces financial record-keeping, budgeting, costing, and the preparation of basic financial statements.
  6. Marketing (20 Credits): Covers marketing principles, market research, and the planning and delivery of effective marketing campaigns.

Assessment and  Regulations 

Assessment Approach

The qualification is assessed through coursework-based assessment designed to evaluate learners’ understanding and practical application of business concepts. Assessment methods include:

  • Written Assignments: Portfolio-based assignments for each unit, assessing knowledge, understanding, analysis, and application of business principles.
  • Case Studies and Applied Tasks: Learners apply business concepts to real or simulated organisational scenarios, demonstrating problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Grading System

This qualification is criteria-referenced and graded as:

  • Pass / Fail
Completion Requirements

To earn the diploma, students must earn a Pass for each unit. All assessments are subject to internal and external moderation for quality assurance.

  • Entry into undergraduate degree programmes in business or related fields, subject to university acceptance
